The 132kV Kitale–Kimilili–Webuye–Musaga Transmission Line Project is a strategic power infrastructure initiative designed to address the persistent challenge of unreliable electricity supply in Western Kenya. By constructing new high-voltage transmission lines across key towns in the region, the project aims to strengthen grid stability, reduce power outages, and enhance voltage quality — providing a more dependable power source for households, businesses, and essential services.
This upgrade is a critical response to the growing energy demand driven by increased industrial activity, urbanization, and population growth in the region. By improving transmission capacity and network resilience, the project will support socio-economic development, attract investment, and promote inclusive growth in line with Kenya’s national energy and development goals. Once completed, it will play a pivotal role in transforming Western Kenya’s energy landscape.
